As I sat down to begin work on this entry, I quickly found myself looking up natural remedies to help me focus. How does my ADHD flare up so quickly? I’ve never tried Aderhol but I knew many friends in undergrad and grad school that swear by it. Pack, what are some methods you use to help you focus?

FYI, totally not me in that first image. Pexels is a great resource for completely free digital images. There are many other image resources I will share as we continue on this journey. What are some image resources you use? Which is your favorite and why?

Since we started this talk about focus, let’s get into content ideas for social media. There is so much we can do and this is by no means all-inclusive. I would love your input on content ideas as well so please comment.

1. Behind-the-scenes photos are a great way to bring humanity to your organization. Take some candid photos of yourself and employees while hard at work, office life and culture, get togethers, happy hours, all of it! You’re a person too and your audience wants to see that.

2. Infographics are a great non-conventional way to share relevant information to your audience. I don’t know about you but I always appreciate a good infographic. There are many resources to find infographics but you can even create your own on easel.ly

3. Product Photos, you can’t go wrong. Having said that, I always follow the 80/20 rule here: 80% engaging content (non-sales) and 20% promote a product or highlight and offer (sales). So be careful here. Photos of people using the product, smiling, laughing and enjoying it can be engaging, just don’t push too hard on the sales.

4. Recommending a resource you feel your audience will find useful (i.e. Pexels and easel.ly).

5. Share a favorite book that you feel your audience will enjoy. This can be industry related but remember you’re a person too and we want to see that! What book are you reading right now that you enjoy (I’m a big fan of the “Throne of Glass” series by Sarah J. Maas).

6. “A day in the life” post is a great way to share your typical day with your audience and really connect with them. Again, you’re a person too, let’s see it.

7. Asking for advice is a very engaging way to connect with your audience. Is there any decision your struggling with? Ask us for help.

8. Share photos of how you got to where you are; old logos, office, partners, your first product and more.

9. Video posts are a fantastic way to let your audience see you and engage with us. Ask us to post video testimonials of your product and organization.

10. Post a controversial point of view. This is a tricky one; it’s a great way to illicit a response and engage with your audience but be careful, you don’t want it to cause anyone to look at you in a negative light.

These are just a few ideas, we all know there are countless more out there. What are some of your favorite content ideas? Come on now, don’t keep them all a secret!

You can find me on Twitter now, @MackWP

However, let me warn you that I have not put the time into the new Twitter account yet and am still working on the headshot. I will respond on there though so feel free to connect and comment.

Keep Smiling.
