effective content ideas for social media marketing

Have you ever gone to write or create something but encountered a complete block? You couldn’t think of anything to write or create? It happens to all of us, don’t sweat it. At times it can prove challenging to overcome though.

Most of our clients come to us for social media because, on the surface, social media marketing seems easy. When you’re juggling all of the different aspects of running a business, social media marketing becomes much more of a challenge. To do the research of where your audience is, the best keywords to target them, staying consistent (this is a big one!), and create unique content for your social media posts, it all takes time that you simply may not have.

We’re here in this article to bring you some quick and easy ideas to help you create content for social media and remain consistent with it. Of course, we’d love to help you out further, but that’s not the point of this particular article. Reach out to us at MackWP Marketing if you’re interested though.

Now to jump in!

Share your brands’ blog

Of course, your brand needs a blog to achieve this one. A blog is a powerful way to funnel traffic to your website. When you create and publish a great blog, share it with your audience (like we’re doing with this one!). Put together an attention-grabbing image, drop an excerpt from the blog that entices your readers to want more, and don’t forget to provide a link directly to your article.

Getting visitors to your website is the hardest part of the battle. When you create great content and have a website that is easy to use, navigate and inspires your readers to want to learn more about you and your brand, they’ll visit other pages on your website as well (Check out a past article of ours on why your business should have a blog here).

Industry news

You’re an expert in your industry, what you do, the products you sell and services provide, right? Let us be clear here, being considered an expert in your industry is a good thing. Being an industry expert will inherently bring readers to your for information.

Stay current on industry news and insights by creating a list of news sources for your industry. Follow these news sources on their social media and when they share something of interest, share it on your social media.

Fun fact: News arctics get more shares than any other type of article.

Ask a question

Encourage your audience to engage with you and your content by asking a question of interest. This can be a fun question, other ways to use your products, what you should write about next, a special menu item, or anything else.

Customer reviews and testimonials

When someone loves your brand enough to write a positive review on it, you want others to see it too. After all, what is more powerful than “word of mouth.” Create a graphic with the testimonial on it, share it if it is a social media post, anything to get others to see it. Be sure to include the name or handle, depending on what format the review is submitted.

Bonus: Always respond to a review, thank them for their kind words, you love being a service to them, etc.

What if the review is negative? Always respond to negative reviews as well. Thank them for taking the time to review, apologize for their experience, and ask if there is anything you may do to help resolve or improve their experience. Even if the person is way off base, you always want to interact with them in a positive manner so others see that your care about your customers, brand, product, and reputation.

Quick tips and advice

Do you have a pro tip to offer on your industry or product? Throw it out there. Make a graphic offering a piece of advice for #WednesdayWisdom. It can be short and sweet. In addition, ask your audience if they have a tip or advice on the topic to add, encouraging engagement.

Company culture

Your audience and potential clients want to know more about your company and connect with you on a deeper level. Show behind-the-scenes images that show what life at the office is like. Celebrate employee birthdays and life events. Show your audience that there are actual humans behind your brand to connect with.

Contest Posts

Struggling to find ways to get your audience engaging? Have something valuable to offer (like 25% off your product)? Run a contest! Have people check-in while they’re at your business, share a picture of them using your product, tag a friend. There are so many things you may work with here. Contests are both fun and engaging. They are a great way to encourage user-generated content for your brand and build a following as well.

Holiday Posts

Holidays are important. We all have a grumpy Scrooge in our family, but the majority of people enjoy holidays and love to have a reason to celebrate (after 2020, we all need a reason to celebrate!). Never forget a holiday post, they are an easy piece of content and they show your audience you care.

Takeaways

We cannot stress enough the importance of remaining consistent with social media marketing. At the same time, you don’t want to post something for the sole purpose of posting something. Your content needs to align with your brand and messaging while engaging your audience. Above are a few content ideas to get the wheels moving for you.
