As more and more states begin to reel back restrictions from the Covid pandemic, local businesses will be able to get back to full operation. In Florida, they suspended all county and city-ordered mask mandates and other pandemic-related restrictions. Pennsylvania will reopen fully on Memorial Day (May 31st), with all covid restrictions being lifted.

As local businesses get back up to speed, how are they marketing to their potential customers? How are they going to get people coming through their door? Content marketing is the solution, and here’s how.

Brand Awareness

If people don’t know about you, they can’t buy from you. Simply having a presence on social media is a good start, but it’s only a start. How well do you know your audience? Which social media platform should you use.

Facebook – Men and women, ages 18-65 or older. With over 2 billion users, it’s the most popular social media platform out there.

Twitter – Demographics: Men and women, ages 18-49. 330 million monthly users.

Instagram – Demographics: Men and women, ages 18-64, albeit the majority of its users are under the age of 25. Over a billion monthly users.

Pinterest – Demographics: Women, ages 18-64. 300 million monthly users.

LinkedIn – Demographics: Men and women, ages 25-64. 303 million monthly users. LinkedIn is a professional social network and is better geared to B2B over B2C.

YouTube – Demographics: Men and women, ages 18-65 and older. 2 billion monthly users.

Once you have the best social platform(s) for you, part of your content marketing strategy should entail keyword research. What will the best tags for your post be to enable your target audience to see your content? Then you want to work out the best days and times for you to publish content. Consistently publish content that is of value to and engaging for your audience. When people like, comment, share, and engage with your content it will open your content up to a larger audience.

Influencers and local content creators

Building your audience can be challenging in the beginning. You are creating great content that is eye-catching, informative, and engaging, but you still can’t get in front of many eyes. Influencer marketing is a great way to strengthen your marketing efforts and get your content in front of the eyes of those who could buy from you. Work with local content creators to write content and tag you in their posts. Working with local content creators will help generate buzz around your brand, increasing brand awareness and getting people through your doors.

Partner with local businesses

We’re all in this together, right. Something positive that came from the covid pandemic is that it pulled businesses together. We were all facing the same challenges (relatively) and were all working together to overcome them. Partner with other local businesses to build up one another’s brands.

Bonus: Backlinks help to improve your SEO.

Incentives

We already know your products are great, now let’s give people another reason to engage with your brand on social media. Get your customers to engage and create content for you by offering a discount or coupon when they check in on social media or tag your brand in a post. Have a giveaway/contest on social to boost engagement. This may look something like this:

  • Like and follow our page for a chance to win a $25 gift card! The winner will be selected at random at the end of the month.
  • Photo Contest! Show us different ways to use our product and tag us in your post. The most inventive post by the end of the month will win a $25 gift card.

Pro Tip: Remember to ask for reviews.

Keep your audience informed

The covid pandemic brought about a lot of change for businesses, from being closed to capacity limits. Many businesses found that a great way to keep customers up-to-date was by using social media. If you’re going to be closed on a holiday, share it on social. If you’re running a sale, share it on social. If you are going to have a booth at a market, share it on your social. If you have any updates, guess what, share it on social!

Content Marketing

Content Marketing is the most powerful form of marketing out there. We’ve all been cooped up and shut-in over the past year. As the restrictions let up, utilize content marketing to spread the word about your brand. Get people talking about your brand and into your business.

These are just a few examples of how to utilize content marketing to bring business through your doors. Let us know how else you’re driving business using content marketing. Have a question? Ask us! We love hearing from you.

Stay safe out there!

Until next time, keep smiling.
