“I don’t want to ever, ever do something in life that isn’t fun. Ever.”
~Jennifer Love Hewitt
Your social media for business doesn’t have to be dry, bland, and a struggle to motivate yourself to work on. Your social media marketing can be fun! Here are a few tips, food for thought.
Use your heart
Putting your heart into your social media marketing is first and foremost! No one is more invested in your business, both emotionally and personally, than you are. We hope that you love what you do, or else why would you do it. If your audience can see and feel that you love what you do and are passionate about it, they will be more likely to get behind you, support you, and engage with your content. When you put your heart into your content, the content flows more naturally and easily with less resistance.
Interact and engage with your audience
Not only is engaging with your audience, responding to their comments and messages, good for your social media marketing, but it is also fun! Being interactive and promoting engagement is key to your success on your social media journey. Use a mix of content that asks questions of your audience, relates to them, shows you are a human, and clearly demonstrates your industry knowledge and experience.
Promoting engagement with your followers keeps the conversation going, is enjoyable, and encourages further engagement with others when they see your brand is active. When you relate with your audience, they connect with you on a deeper level, giving your brand a more personable feel as opposed to corporate and they view your more as an acquaintance as opposed to a salesman. When you demonstrate your industry knowledge and experience, others will consider you a thought leader in your industry, bringing others to you for information.
Experiment with your creativity and more
Have your ever held back because you felt others would not like the original and authentic you? We don’t know anyone who hasn’t done so at some point in their life; let us know where you fall in regards to this. Authenticity has become more and more important these days. Too long have we heard dry, corporate marketing messages (boring!).
Get out of the “comfort zone” and be you! Again, no one is more passionate and invested in your business than you. When you are authentic, you help others see what you see. You’ll find your niche this way and have fun doing it.
Be Human
Being human comes back around to being your authentic self. Your audience doesn’t connect with corporations. Sure, they may align with a corporation’s values and mission, but they do not truly connect with them. Your audience connects with other people.
Show others that you’re not just an organization, you are human. Share office culture, community events, a “day in the life,” and more. Engage others without promoting yourself. Do you like to go unheard? Neither do others. Respond to every comment not simply because it is good business, but because it lets others know that they are heard, and that feels good.
One of the great things about social media marketing is that it puts your audience right there with you. It makes dialogue easier, and it’s a two-way street. Engage with your audience and build rapport by having a conversation with them and providing valuable feedback.
It’s easier when it’s fun
Simply put, it’s easier to stay on top of your social media marketing when it’s fun. To create valuable content consistently, to engage with others positively, to stay motivated to keep with it. When you have fun with your social media marketing, you’re excited about continuing down that path, and not only will you make the time for it, but you’ll enjoy it too.
